The pulsating 4-2 victory over Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome saw Inter claim the Coppa Italia for the eighth time in the club’s history. The Nerazzurri have now reached the showpiece final on 14 occasions and the triumph takes the trophy haul since the club was founded in 1908 up to 42.
Only Juventus (14) and Roma (nine) have won the Coppa Italia more times than Inter, with Lazio (seven) in fourth place in the rankings.
Having lost to Juventus in the Coppa Italia final in 1959 and 1965, Inter have now beaten the Bianconeri in back-to-back finals, following on from the Italian Super Cup in January at San Siro, with extra time once again needed to determine a winner.
Inter’s previous Coppa Italia triumph was back in 2011 when Leonardo’s side beat Palermo 3-1 thanks to goals by Samuel Eto'o (two) and Diego Milito. A certain Andrea Ranocchia was in the starting line-up that day, while the defender was also in the squad at the Olimpico where he celebrated his second Coppa Italia success 11 years after his first.

Inter are the first team to have scored twice in extra time in a Coppa Italia final since Vicenza managed to do so against Napoli in 1997.
Inter are the first club to have converted two penalties in a Coppa Italia final (excluding penalty shootouts) since Sampdoria did so against Ancona in 1994.
The Nerazzurri played extra time in a Coppa Italia final for the first time in the club’s history, while it was the fourth taste of an extra 30 minutes for the Bianconeri in their last seven cup finals alone.
